On 2 March 2026, a validation workshop on “Decent Work and Responsible Business Practices in the Plastic Recycling Supply Chain in Bangladesh” was organised by International Labour Organization (ILO) and Microfinance Opportunities (MFO), in partnership with Research and Policy Integration for Development (RAPID). Dr M Abu Eusuf, Executive Director of RAPID, delivered the welcome remarks. Mr Guy Stuart, Executive Director of GWD (formerly Microfinance Opportunities), presented the keynote presentation. The presentation was followed by an open-floor discussion moderated by Mr Jahid Ebn Jalal, Deputy Director, RAPID. The programme concluded with closing remarks by Mr Neeran Ramjuthan, Program Manager for Labour Administration and Working Conditions at the ILO. The workshop brought together key stakeholders from the government, employer's and worker's associations, NGOs, development partners, and academia to reflect on the study findings and share valuable insights to strengthen responsible business practices within the shrimp processing sector. The initiative is implemented under the Advancing Decent Work in Bangladesh Project, supported by the Team Europe Initiative (European Union, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Sweden) and Canada.
