On 4 March 2026, a validation workshop on “Decent Work and Responsible Business Practices in the Shrimp Processing Supply Chain in Bangladesh” was organised in Khulna by International Labour Organization (ILO) and Microfinance Opportunities (MFO), in partnership with Research and Policy Integration for Development (RAPID). Ms Linnéa Strand, Technical Officer, Decent Work in Supply Chains at the ILO, delivered the welcome remarks. Mr Guy Stuart, Executive Director of GWD (formerly Microfinance Opportunities), delivered the keynote presentation. The presentation was followed by an open-floor discussion moderated by Mr Jahid Ebn Jalal, Deputy Director, RAPID. The programme concluded with closing remarks delivered by Mr Neeran Ramjuthan, Program Manager, Labour Administration and Working Conditions, ILO. The session brought together key stakeholders from the government, employer's and worker's associations, NGOs, development partners, and academia to reflect on the study findings and share valuable insights to strengthen responsible business practices within the shrimp processing sector. The initiative is implemented under the Advancing Decent Work in Bangladesh Project, supported by the Team Europe Initiative (European Union, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Sweden) and Canada.
