Social Protection for Tea Garden Workers

About the project

Partner: UNICEF
Project duration: October 2021-June 2022

Nearly half a million tea garden workers and their family members are suffering from multidimensional deprivations including limited livelihood opportunities and low wages, lack of or reduced access to health, education, and social protection services. Considering these multiple deprivations, the Government introduced a special social protection scheme to ameliorate their socio-economic conditions.

This study examines the current socio-economic state of tea garden workers (TGW) while identifying the scope of strengthening social protection support mechanisms for them along with other support measures improving their working conditions.
