
Tunaggina Sumaia Khan
Research Associate, RAPID
Tunaggina Sumaia Khan is currently working as a Research Associate at RAPID since August 2019. She is assisting to conduct research on various socio-economic issues. As a student of Development Studies, she understands the priority of research for the advancement of the social and economic development of the country. While her focus is on conducting research, she also has provided assistance to the executive director Dr. M. Abu Eusuf to prepare various reports and articles for UNICEF, Asia Foundation and UNDP. One of the articles has been published in The Daily Star in January 2020.
Tunaggina believes there is no one definite approach that works in every situation; so, she continues to educate herself on emerging information on economic advancements. She also has keen interest on recent development strategies undertaken by development organizations to mitigate different problems. She has experience in doing different research works with faculties during her undergraduate program. Also has worked as a member of Lions Club International where she took part in different projects, like- providing medical assistance, organizing awareness programs about the breast cancer, educating students about first aid knowledge, raising funds for orphanage for their necessity of food, education and so on. These experiences have enlightened her about the large perspective about the socio-economic environment of Bangladesh. This has influenced her to pursue career in research and development to bring meaningful change in the communities through finding the right solutions of the existing social and economic problems.
She has completed her Master degree in Development Economics at University of Dhaka. Also, holds a Master in accounting from Dhaka University and Bachelor in Finance from East West University. She has keen interest in classical dance and performed at national level in Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, NTV and participated in BTV flagship cultural competition ‘Notun Kuri’.
