Dr. M. Abu Eusuf is an economist by training and has an excellent track record of leading and managing multiple projects. He was awarded Ph.D. in Development Policy and Management from the University of Manchester as a Commonwealth Scholar. He also completed his MA in Development Studies at the Institute of Social Studies (ISS), Netherlands, under the UN fellowship program.

Dr Eusuf is an active researcher and has worked for UNDP; World Bank; EU, ODI, Center on the Budget and Policy Priorities, USA; University of Manchester, The Asia Foundation, Bangladesh Planning Commission, Consumer Unity and Trust Society (CUTS) International, India; ActionAid Bangladesh, Care Bangladesh, Oxfam, World Vision, Institute for Inclusive Finance and Development (InM) and so on.

Research focus:
Urban Poverty, Social Protection, Budget, Trade, Water Security and Poverty, Human Development, Green growth, Corporate Social Responsibility, Microfinance, Financial Inclusion, Water and Sanitation, Health, Property Rights and Land Reform etc.

Research projects:
  • ‘Analysis of the situation (SitAn) of children in Bangladesh 2019’ commissioned by the UNICEF Dhaka Office (May 2019 to April 2020).
  • ‘Dynamics of Poverty and Water Security for the Poor’ under REACH programme in collaboration with Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET); University of Dhaka and University of Oxford, UK, from June 2015 to December 2022.
  • ‘Contacting with open source of water: causes and consequences’, a collaborative research paper prepared by Centre on Budget and Policy, University of Dhaka; Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and University of Oxford (June 2019).
  • Team Leader with a UNDP supported Planning Commission study on ‘Diagnostics for Urban Poverty and the Social Security Needs of the Urban Poor in Bangladesh’, (July to December 2019).
