Dr Bazlul Haque Khondker holds a PhD from the University of Warwick and is currently teaching at the University of Dhaka as a Professor in Economics.
His current works on macro-economic module focuses on building consistent macroeconomic framework with provision for generating long term macro outlook under alternative interventions including MDG needs assessment. He has taken the lead to develop the ‘technical framework’ for the Sixth Five Year Plan in collaboration with BIDS. He was involved in designing and implementing a ‘Generalized Macro Economic’ framework on behalf of UN Regional Bureau for the Asia and Pacific (UN RBAP) to develop MDG financing strategy within the framework of MTBF and LTMF. This framework has been used in Mongolia and Nigeria to develop MDG financing strategies for them.
He has worked in several countries as International consultants. They include Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Viet Nam, Indonesia, Mongolia, Morocco, Lesotho, Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, and Cameroon, UK, Canada, USA, Venezuela, Kiribati and the Netherlands. He has worked in these countries under the aegis of UNDP, ADB, ILO, UNRBAP, UNICEF, World Bank, the Central Bank of Venezuela, the East West Centre, and the Harvard University.
