Abdul Hannan Biswas has obtained Honours and Master of Social Sciences in Economics from the University of Dhaka. He had started his research career since 1992 and have more than 25 years of experience with outstanding skills of applying various research techniques including anthropological (PRA, RRA, Snowball, RCT, etc.) research approaches in social and development research. He coordinated several large-scale studies on overseas labour migration from Bangladesh and particular focused on women labour migration (under the supervision of renowned social anthropologist Dr Thérèse Blanchet, Dr Samantha Watson and renowned Economist Dr Mohammad A. Razzaque) using both qualitative and quantitative tools, techniques and methods. He is skilled in the quantitative and the qualitative data analysis. Most of his research have focused on human rights; labour issues, particularly relating to women; and children situation in the country.

He co-authored several publications with Dr Thérèse Blanchet and Dr Mohammad A. Razzaque. His publications include “Slaves for a Season: Bonded Child Labour in the Dry Fish Industry” and “Documenting the Undocumented: Female Migrant Workers from Bangladesh”. A number of his articles have been published in Prothom-alo regarding overseas women labour migration and human trafficking.
