Research and Policy Integration for Development (RAPID), with support from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), organised a dialogue titled “Budget FY27: Reform Signals, Macroeconomic Strains and Implementation Risks” 18 June 2026
The event was graced by Dr Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Adviser to the Hon’ble Prime Minister on the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Planning, as the Chief Guest; and by Ms Rasheda K Chowdhury, Former Adviser to the Caretaker Government of Bangladesh, as the Guest of Honour.
The programme featured a keynote presentation by Dr M A Razzaque, Chairman of RAPID; and was moderated by Dr M Abu Eusuf, Executive Director of RAPID and Professor of Development Studies at the University of Dhaka.
The panel discussion benefited greatly from the valuable insights of Dr Rubana Huq, Vice-Chancellor of the Asian University for Women (AUW); Mr Syed Nasim Manzur, President of the Footwear, Leathergoods and Accessories Exporters’ Association of Bangladesh (FLAXA) and Managing Director of Apex Footwear Ltd.; and Ms Taslima Akhter, President of Bangladesh Garment Workers Solidarity.
The dialogue convened distinguished policymakers, economists, business leaders, development practitioners, academics, labour representatives; and members of the media to reflect on the reform priorities, macroeconomic challenges; and implementation considerations associated with Bangladesh’s national budget.
RAPID expresses its sincere gratitude to all speakers, participants, and guests for their thoughtful contributions to a constructive and forward-looking discussion on Bangladesh’s economic outlook, reform agenda; and development priorities.
