Workshop for Journalists: LDC Graduation and Trade Competitiveness
On 6 July 2026, RAPID hosted a Workshop for journalists on LDC Graduation and Trade Competitiveness at the National Press Club.
We were honoured by the gracious presence of Mr Zahir Uddin Swapan, MP, Honourable Minister, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, who joined the workshop as the Chief Guest and shared valuable remarks with the participants.
We were also pleased to be joined by Ms Doulot Akter Mala, President of the Economic Reporters’ Forum (ERF), as the Guest of Honour, whose continued contribution to strengthening economic journalism in Bangladesh is highly appreciated.
The workshop was moderated by Dr M Abu Eusuf, Executive Director, and Professor of Development Studies, University of Dhaka.
The presentation was delivered by Dr M A Razzaque, Chairman, RAPID.
The presentation stressed the urgency of export diversification, improved trade logistics, stronger market access strategies, and enhanced competitiveness in a rapidly changing global trade environment.
The discussion highlighted a sobering reality: Bangladesh’s export competitiveness challenge did not begin with LDC graduation, but graduation could magnify existing weaknesses unless reforms are accelerated.
We thank all participating journalists and distinguished guests for a lively and insightful discussion on Bangladesh’s economic future.
