
Meherun Ahmed

Prof. Meherun Ahmed has received both her Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, USA. She has completed her Bachelors and Masters in Economics from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Her research focuses on the microeconomic analysis of household behavior, with an emphasis on the investment in human capital, intergenerational assimilation of immigrants, forced displacement, climate change adaptation, migration, crisis coping mechanisms, poverty, as well as labor force supply. She has contributed in many complex research projects, involving nationwide household survey data collection, analysis, report writing and action-oriented policy recommendations. She served as a Professor of Economics in Asian University for Women and Independent University Bangladesh. She was the Director of the HSBC-AUW School of Apparels, and the Head of the Department of Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) at the Asian University for Women (AUW). She was the dean of School of Business and Entrepreneurship at Independent University Bangladesh (IUB). Before Joining AUW, she was an assistant professor at Carleton College in Minnesota, USA. She has worked for many national and international development agencies and think tanks like the World Bank, The International Monetary Fund, International Organization of Migration and Institute of Microfinance. She has published in reputed journals and presented her research in numerous conferences.
