Md. Imran Hossain Bhuiyan is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Development Studies, University of Dhaka (DU). Being highly skilled in social research, proposal writing, data collection and analysis, and report writing, Mr. Bhuiyan is a promising development researcher with a demonstrated history of working in multi-faceted development sectors of Bangladesh for last 5 years. He has strong academic record with a Bachelor’s and a Master’s of Social Science focused in Development Studies from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, and an MSc in International Development from the University of Manchester, UK. Leather sector development, governance, SDGs, women empowerment, education, social protection programmes, and ICT development have been some of the major areas of his research endeavours.

Throughout his research career, he has served South Asian Network on Economic Modeling (SANEM) and The Asia Foundation in Bangladesh for about 2 years as ‘Research Analyst’ and focused his research broadly on sectors like leather sector development, women entrepreneurship, and green growth. He has also worked with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as consultant in research projects related to education, ICT and development. Moreover, among other important collaborations, he also worked with organizations like UNDP Bangladesh, Cabinet Division of the Government of Bangladesh, IC Net Limited (Japan), Bangladesh Enterprise Institute (BEI), Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation(PKSF), National Institute of Local Government (NILG) in Bangladesh, Unnayan Sahajogy Team (UST), and Centre on Budget and Policy (CBP), to mention some.

Besides his promising academic and research career, he also serves non-profit development organizations as part of his social commitment. Since early 2014, he has been serving as a Director and Research Advisor of the BacBon Foundation, Bangladesh, in order to promote social development in marginal communities through promoting education, entrepreneurship, and extensive use of ICT.
